Licensed Professional Counselor

My goal as a Licensed Professional Counselor is to support the mental health and well-being of individuals and families so that each person can thrive in their daily life. To meet this goal, I firmly believe an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity helps lead to a constructive, yet positive growth outcome for all individuals. Using an approach geared to address a person’s individual needs, I meet an individual where they are at and help the individual progress towards positive life change.

I grew up as a Military child moving frequently throughout my childhood; and as an adult, I lived in northern Virginia before moving once again and landing in Arkansas, where I now call home with my family. I completed both my B.S. in Psychology and Sociology and my Master’s Degree in Counseling at Virginia Tech. I have a depth of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across multiple domains with a range of needs.

Children: My passion is working with children as young as 3 years old. I use play therapy to allow a child optimum expression of their thoughts and feelings in order to confront challenges associated with anger management, anxiety, depression, developmental delays, ADHD, and trauma. In addition, I believe it is important to incorporate parents into this process using concurrent parent sessions where I work alongside parents using a Family Systems approach to help parents feel more confident and capable in supporting and responding to their child’s needs.

Adolescents: I work with teens who have difficulties appropriately expressing their thoughts and feelings resulting in issues arising within the school, home, or other settings. Common issues I work with include anxiety, depression, school and peer related stressors, self-harm, and trauma. I help empower teens to address problems they face, find resolutions that adequately fit their needs, and build necessary skills to manage changes as they transition into young adulthood.

Adults: I also work with adults to help them address challenges, which include, but are not limited to, life transitions, parenting stress, co-parenting, anxiety, relationship stress, and depression.

MORE ABOUT ME:

When I’m not seeing clients, you can catch me:

  • Chasing after my son or throwing a ball to my dog, a Blue Heeler
  • Whipping something up in the kitchen
  • Getting lost in a book on the couch
  • Channeling stress into a good sweat output

Growing up as an Army brat, I attended 4 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 2 high schools living in a total of 8 places. Change has been the biggest constant in my life!
