Counselor Profile

Melonye Cleveland

Melonye Cleveland, MA

Resident in Counseling

My goal is to empower individuals so they can live a resilient and fulfilled life and I’m passionate about helping others cope with day to day stressors and the anxieties of life. I am a strong proponent of the power that counseling can have on the individual and believe it can be life-changing.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and families. Specifically, I assist individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, emotional regulation, life transitions, relationships, and trauma. I utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach which means that I help individuals develop tools for managing emotional responses. I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help with distress tolerance. I have experience dealing closely with clients suffering from both mental illness and behavioral health issues. I have previously worked as a housing coordinator and social worker for the Washington, D.C. homeless population, and as a residential coach in Flat Rock, North Carolina, specializing in helping young girls with mental and behavioral issues ranging from childhood trauma to the Autism spectrum.
