Counselor Profile

Zakiya Pollard, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Two quotes inform the lens through which I view therapy:

“To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived – this is to have succeeded.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

and

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond all measure.” – Marianne Williamson

I consider myself to be a guide who joins each of my clients on their journey to become the best version of themselves. I am grateful for the opportunity to build relationships with and help people, and I believe every person has the ability to accomplish their goals utilizing their own personal strengths. I work with individuals who need a safe space to discuss strategies they can use to overcome the barriers they’ve encountered in their lives. I apply a person-centered approach and ensure that the goals of therapy are chosen by my client.

I utilize techniques from a variety of approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed treatment. I have received training in cognitive behavioral therapy; recovery-oriented cognitive therapy; and Seeking Safety, a skill-building therapy program for individuals with co-occurring trauma and substance use.

I believe that my purpose in life is to help as many people as possible to accomplish their personal goals, and I use a person-centered approach that is tailored to each individual in order to do so. I look forward to learning from you and sharing my experiences and resources with you to assist you in becoming the person you want to be.
