Counselor Profile
Amy Clay, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
I am a licensed professional counselor with over 25 years of experience in private practice. I’m dedicated to helping clients navigate various issues, including anxiety, overwhelm, panic disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, grief, and especially interpersonal relationship dynamics. I counsel from a trauma informed, gender affirming perspective, understanding that each client has their unique intersection of cultural and social contexts such as race, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, and religion to name a few. I believe in the Five Principles of Trauma-Informed Care which include safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness and empowerment.
My expertise extends to couples work, including premarital counseling, navigating parenthood, repairing relationships post-affair, creating new monogamy agreements, and overcoming intimacy and sexual issues. My primary relationship training is as an IMAGO therapist, yet I incorporate a variety of relational therapeutic approaches, ensuring a tailored experience for each couple. I am currently working towards becoming a dual certified AASECT Certified Sex Therapist through the Integrative Sex Therapy Institute. Additionally, I’m a (Brené Brown) Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator and love to incorporate that work when working with clients.
As co-owner of Sunstone Counseling, I not only serve clients but also dedicate time to training fellow counseling professionals by providing clinical supervision for Residents in Counseling. I’m passionate about connecting clients to the right support, whether it be through my own services or by facilitating the perfect match at Sunstone Counseling.
