Counselor Profile
Gina Hafez, LPC, NCC, GCDF
Licensed Professional Counselor
Hi I’m Gina! I come from a research and pastoral background so much of my approach synthesizes the practical to the experiential layers of human experience. I’ve been in the field since 2010, initially studying the effects of shame and guilt on prisoner populations. I then took a deep dive working directly to support the severely mentally ill at NVMHI with weekly meditation and mindfulness sessions. Simultaneously I was studying pastoral care and volunteering at the local hospital with palliative care (whereupon I developed an interest and experience in grief work and spirituality as it relates to well-being – especially at an existential level). Since then I’ve trained as an EMT, taken coursework in sheepdog response and political philosophy, and spent and dedicated much of my time to work with Effective Altruists as they work to resolve global problems.
I’ve had specific training in trauma work (brainspotting), global career facilitation and group work. My latest interests relate to effective techniques for releasing trauma in the body, lifestyle and nutritional supports for well-being, and positive uses of technology for health and self-awareness.
I cultivate a goal-oriented approach, learning atmosphere and open-hearted dialogue in my sessions and look forward to feedback on our teamwork together. As of now I’m only available virtually and am accepting adult clients.
MORE ABOUT ME:
I spend part of the year in the mountains and amidst nature as an important and informed part of my own healing journey! Lately I’ve been reading a lot of books related to global history and I seek out cultural and civilizational wisdom to inform my own lifestyle in addition to my therapeutic style. In my free time I kickbox, paint and cook – not all at once :)
