Kris Harris

Graduate Intern

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” – Brené Brown
We live in a time when it can be difficult and sometimes unsafe to be our genuine selves. We may not even be aware of “who” we are as we have been living life in ways that strive to make it manageable – until it is not. Sometimes, this shows up as anxious or depressed states, relationship struggles, life adjustment issues, and grief.

If you seek to enter a space where you can be seen and heard, I would love to hold a place for you. I will endeavor to sit beside you with respect, empathy, understanding, and nonjudgment. Your strengths will be celebrated, and your challenges will be met with validation and support.

My therapeutic approach is person-centered, meaning that we are not all the same. We will work collaboratively to set your goals and find ways to attain them. The various aspects of our being—body, mind, soul, and spirit—are all integral in promoting well-being, and our time together can be spent discovering ways to effectuate the changes you desire. We will draw from strategies including: cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

Children (age 5 and older) and adults of all ages who seek support to navigate a new season of hope and self-discovery are invited to contact me. Together, we can build on this monumental display of courage to find healing and growth.

MORE ABOUT ME:

During the twenty years my husband served in the United States Air Force, our family lived in Colorado, Mississippi, Okinawa, Japan, Texas, Massachusetts, Alabama, and California. This experience has given me an awareness and appreciation for the amazing people who reside in our nation and represent a multitude of countries, customs, experiences, and viewpoints.

We currently live in northern Virginia. I enjoy taking walks, listening to podcasts, and reading from my exhaustive Kindle library. I also love spending time with my husband and four adult children, and cuddling with my very cute Shih Tzu.
