“There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” -Leonard Cohen
As a Counselor, I believe in the power of vulnerability and the strength that we can find in our struggles. This quote from Leonard Cohen is a great way to view the inevitable struggles in life, and what we can gain from working our way through them. My goal as a counselor is to create a collaborative, comfortable space where clients can explore their struggles, building resilience, self-understanding and hope along the way.
My approach to therapy is integrative, as I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. I like to incorporate elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques, amongst others. I love using play and creativity when working with children to help them better express emotions and build confidence. Working with teenagers, I focus on building a strong connection and giving them a non-judgemental space to talk about the many challenges facing them like anxiety, social stress, or body image. With adults, I am here to help navigate the transitions in life, whether that is a relationship change, parenting stress, grief, or career change. Ultimately, I hope to work alongside clients to clarify goals, increase resilience, and promote well-being.
