Counselor Profile

Lazar Rodic

Graduate Intern

“I believe that within each of us is the strength to create a meaningful life and live in harmony with who we really are – even when faced with adversity and challenges.”

I approach each person’s story with an awareness that their identities, social environments and life experiences influence how they navigate life. I use an integrative approach, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique needs by drawing from Person-Centered, Narrative, and Existential therapies. My style is collaborative and compassionate, providing a supportive space where clients who feel stuck, uncertain, or disconnected can explore their feelings, reflect, and uncover paths forward that feel authentic to themselves.

I work primarily with adults navigating significant life changes, such as relationship challenges, career transitions, cultural or immigration adjustments, or grief and loss. I also support clients exploring their identities, including those navigating questions around sexuality or gender and the impact of social or cultural expectations.

I have a strong passion for working with couples, including those in non-traditional relationships. I focus on helping partners navigate communication challenges, maintain their individuality within the relationship, and understand the unique dynamics they share.

MORE ABOUT ME:

I was born in Yugoslavia and have lived in Washington, D.C. for the past decade. Before becoming a counselor, I worked as a human rights lawyer specializing in anti-discrimination law, women’s rights, and LGBTQ rights. Outside of work, I enjoy tending to my plants, playing volleyball and tennis, reading with my book club, and experimenting with baking – still searching for the perfect savory scone recipe.
