Counselor Profile

Tara Amor, MSW

Supervisee in Social Work

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by life events, but hesitated to reach out for help because your challenges don’t seem serious enough to involve a mental health professional? You’re not alone, many people think of therapy as a solution for those in crisis – but mental healthcare is for everyone! As a social work supervisee, I have experience working with diverse clients to build skills and habits that support healthy cognition, improve relationships and intimacy, and tackle life’s challenges empowered by a positive self-image. I would love the opportunity to share, learn, and grow with you as well.

Throughout my experiences with social work, I have had the opportunity to witness the therapeutic benefits of changing negative patterns of thought and behavior, which can lead to acceptance of self and a better ability to successfully navigate moment-to-moment events and emotions as well as enhance the quality of relationships long term.

I am drawn to working with couples and individuals who may be experiencing conflict within their personal or professional relationships, particularly those who have experienced childhood adversity, trauma, or cultural conflict. I have a particular interest in the impact of diversity on sexual and gender identity.

MORE ABOUT ME:

I enjoy hiking and the great outdoors, and I find a great deal of peace and serenity in a natural setting. Furthermore, I have experience with ADHD, which helps explain why I’m always on the go. Belly dancing and Ping Pong are some of my favorite physical outlets. I also love to cook and entertain. In fact, I was a personal chef many years ago!
