Counselor Profile

Tessie Schonder

Graduate Intern

In life’s more difficult moments, having someone to walk alongside makes all the difference. As a counselor, I’m here to be that supportive presence- someone who truly listens, understands, and helps you navigate the challenges you’re facing. Maybe you’re feeling stuck or unhappy with parts of yourself, caught in a cycle of negative thoughts that drain your energy. You might be experiencing overwhelming anxiety, unsure of how to make it better. Or maybe you’ve recently lost a loved one and don’t know what to do with all the grief you feel. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to face it alone.

My approach to counseling is primarily person-centered, but I also integrate different therapeutic techniques in order to best suit your needs. I am here to support you with empathy and curiosity. As a team, we will explore your emotions, identify behavior patterns, and chart a path towards growth and healing, all at a pace that feels right for you. If spirituality or religion is an important part of your life, I welcome the opportunity to integrate it into our work together.

I work with individuals experiencing a range of concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and body image struggles. I believe that each person brings unique strengths into the therapy space. By tapping into your strengths and values, we will create a personalized path forward that reflects your goals and honors your experiences. My hope is that you leave each session feeling more empowered, and with a stronger sense of the joy and confidence that you have always had within you.
