Parenting Your Neurodiverse Child in a Neurotypical World

Are you a parent of a neurodiverse child?
Gain Support and Resources Navigating Parenting, School, and the World Around You
Parenting neurodiverse children can be complicated in so many different ways. Helping your child navigate a neurotypical world, adjusting to or even grieving your expectations for your child’s life, and seeking resources and connections to avoid feelings of isolation.
This group will provide a forum to process all of these experiences with other parents of neurodiverse children. You will have the opportunity to learn from one another while also receiving psychoeducation to help build your toolkit of resources, strategies, and skills to support you in this parenting journey.
Program highlights:
- Provide an open and caring space to process and learn from one another
- Resources provided as well at time to process and build community with others walking this journey

I am a first year intern with a focus on supporting children, adolescents, as well as their parents through their experiences of anxiety, major life transitions, trauma, or other concerns impacting their wellness. As a mother, I understand today’s complex and volatile world makes it more difficult to not just preserve the joy and safety of childhood but to navigate the journey of parenthood. I follow an integrated approach based largely on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but including aspects of other key theories including Narrative Therapy. This approach helps my clients address the thoughts or behaviors impacting their lives while also contextualizing their struggles and empowering them to continue moving forward.

I am a second year intern with a focus on neurodiversity with over 10 years of experience with child, teen and family dynamics and communication. I am currently specifically Autism and ADHD. I am also the mother of 3 neurodivergent boys and look forward to supporting and sharing not only my knowledge as a clinician but also as a mother. I work primarily through the lens of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy where we would connect how the emotions and brain affect behaviors. This is an excellent way to work with and understand neurodivergent children as their brains work a little differently than other peoples.
